Aprons

These aprons are gifts for my nieces. They were really easy and so fun to make. I think they are just so adorable. I hope that my two sweet girls like them as much as I liked making them.

Thoughts on the ice storm

As most of you know, the icy conditions are affecting this entire community. It has been really interesting to see how different people respond. Many people who are still without electricity are staying in their cold homes just waiting for the electricity to come on. Others have found warm places to hang out and even people's homes to stay in. I was just longing to take people in, feed them, let them watch movies and sip hot drinks. We finally have a house guest, who after 3 days with out heat, decided to come stay with us. I think this is such a wonderful time for people to reach out to one another. I wonder if receiving is so foreign to some people that all of us that are trying to give just end up feeling disappointed when people just want to figure it out on their own. These are just a few of my thoughts these days, ramblings really. I'll be posting some pictures soon.

The way I see it...

I have been enjoying my new camera, a Nikon D40. I love it. It is so wonderful to have a new creative outlet. I enjoy just carrying it around (in a long searched for camera bag that looks like a purse) and capturing the things that I find interesting or portray some aspect of my life. I have enjoyed playing with different angles and settings, and feel like I am just starting to learn. My eye is often drawn to unusual angles and photographing those everyday things in life that I think are beautiful. Here are a few of my favorites from the last few weeks.....

And since many of these pictures seem to have a theme of musical instruments, I have to mention the movie, August Rush, that I saw on Saturday night. Wow! What a great movie. I'm not sure I can even tell you why I loved it so much. It evoked something in me and I left just thinking about the music in the movie as well as the beauty of the story. I'd recommend it, but make sure you go with people you feel comfortable crying with (the good kind of tears).
