Shoes, Glorious Shoes!

I love shoes! My first part-time job (if you don't count babysitting for pennies) was at a chain shoe store and I loved the discount and the continuous shoe shopping. I hated the overwhelming odor of leathers and dyes. I am still convinced to this day that this is what made some of my fellow full-timers seem well....high. It is very possible that was going on outside work as well. I was too innocent to know. I love shoes, for so many different reasons. They can be spunky, comfortable, functional, sexy, colorful, chill. They really reflect personality. If $ was no issue, I'm not sure I'd be buying Manolo Blahnik or Christian Louboutin. I can't imagine paying over $500 for a pair of shoes that are really more like an art piece. It's hard enough for me to spend over $50 on a pair of shoes, although I know that the shoes I love the most were over that price point. This is why shoe sales at Dillards make me grin from ear to ear. I haven't bought any shoes for quite some time (hubby might disagree on this one) so I am dreaming of that special shoe to add whimsy, and a spring step that would carry me into summer. I say dreaming because I need to save some $ and I am nervous about my feet growing during pregnancy. I suppose I could just buy a 1/2 size bigger? Hmmm.... Here are some shoes that I am loving right now.
These are practical, fun, eco-friendly: Keens I love my other keens and would love a 2nd pair. Here is another pair I really like: Keen Madrid
These are a cute pop of color, fun, probably comfortable: Born (pictured above) Hopefully, the foot bed wouldn't smell to high heaven after a few months of wear. It is the one downside of this brand.
I have seen that Spring styles this year include the gladiator and the platform, which I really can't get into. I do love a peep toe, but because of a broken big toe on my left foot it just looks like I am giving someone the bird with my foot when I wear them. Sigh...
What shoes are you loving, wishing for these days?

Spring Break
The week flew by. My hubby worked SO hard to complete the baby room transformation/office transition. My parents were here for 2 days helping too. My dad did a lot of the furniture moving. Here is a short list of what was done:
A new closet door installed
Room painted (2 coats)
Trim put up
Base boards installed
Furniture moved-futon to storage, crib out of storage, desk moved to new office, dresser/changing table moved.
New light fixture installed
Dimmer switch installed
Crib assembled
It is really amazing all that was done. I am really thankful for all the work my hubby put into this. I know he was REALLY tired after all this work, though he enjoyed working with his hands. I feel like our little girl's room is really becoming lovely. There are still things like a mattress and rocker to get. Of course now there is so much that can be done decorating. There are so many wonderful colors to work with, but am wanting to add more of a feminine touch. I am thinking some pink and florals ?! I would love any suggestions. Here are some pictures of our week. I didn't take any of the countless hours spent watching basketball, it IS March Madness after all and we have been enjoying all the amazing games.

"Jenni needs to..."
A little funny facebook thingy that I did for fun this afternoon. It really cracked me up.
Here's what you do:
A. Go to Google
B. Type your name and "needs to" all in quotation marks. (e.g. "Fred needs to")
C. Report back on the first ten things that come up for your name.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Jenni needs to be there to liven it up and to be Miss Cheeky.
2. Jenni needs to look into it.
3. Jenni needs to be a little more responsible and not provoke and condone violence.
4. Jenni needs to see this. And maybe it will remind her to hurry up and record that new one.
5. Jenni needs to learn to be more alluring.
6. Jenni needs to win the free trackday Everything Bike.
7. Jenni needs to turn 1 more or gain 2 more Slayer points to reach the next level.
8. Jenni needs to be able to sort through some things, without being around Jeff Lewis, breathing down her back.
9. Jenni needs to arrange the hotel this week, so if you still haven't got your forms in, please do it today!
10.Jenni needs to dress, groom, bathe, toilet, eat...
I can really relate to #3 , #7, and #10-HA!
Try it, it is pretty funny.

Scotty
I got my sewing machine back, it works again and that makes me happy! I made this little fellow, which ended up being more cute sewn by hand. I love this scotty dog. I got a free pattern online and whipped it up in a couple of hours. Sewing by hand is great because you can sit in front of the TV. Last night I watched Survivor, which wasn't that great this week because I was hoping "coach" would be voted off. In other news...I passed my glucose test today which means no gestational diabetes! Today begins spring break for us and our plan is to work on the baby room (picked the yellow, btw), March Madness, and a visit from my parents. It will be a great. It is starting off with hubby making us breakfast for dinner tonight-what a sweetheart.

Deal of the Day
For those of you that sew out there...Hobby Lobby has McCall patterns for .99 cents each. They are normally around $15 dollars. This deal will go until Saturday. I picked up this pattern in case I ever get my sewing machine back. It has been at the repair shop for almost a month, I need to call and see what is going on. Have a great weekend everyone!
